About Me

Auto Repairs and Servicing

Hello, my name is Walter. Over the past few months, I have been working on my car. I never used to think much about my car. I would just jump into it and hit the road. Things were fine at first, but soon I realised that things were starting to go wrong. Strange white smoke started to appear from the exhaust. Sometimes when I changed gear, I could hear a strange noise. Foolishly, I ignored all of this until my car broke down. When I got to the auto repair shop the mechanic repaired my car and then gave it a full service. As he did so, I began my auto servicing education.

Watch Out for These Common Problems to Prevent Your Car Engine From Going Kaput

by Margie White

Your body turns the food you eat into useful energy through a process called digestion. In a similar vein, the engine on your car converts the fuel it is "fed" with into motion, but through a process referred to as internal combustion. Over time, you may notice a decline in your car's engine performance. Of course, this should be a cause for concern, as your car's overall performance may also deteriorate. Here are some common engine trouble signs you should never ignore as a car owner:

Unpleasant racket from the engine

A loud engine is a source of worry for every driver. Not only does the excessive noise warn that your engine is headed for ruin, but also it is a bother to the ears. Noisy engines are usually a sign of trouble with internal combustion, meaning the engine is not burning fuel as efficiently as it should. In most instances, car engine noises include banging, knocking, clamouring, popping, etc. It is crucial that you contact a certified mechanic for repair service immediately when you notice these noises. Otherwise, delays may translate to further damage, which means expensive repairs.

Stalling engine

Stalling is simply defined as the sudden ceasing of engine operations including engine turning. In manual cars, engine stalling is common as a result of not engaging the clutch and the gas pedal at right speeds, while in automatic cars it may be due to mechanic failure, lack of enough air and fuel mixture. A stalling engine may be a sign that your engine needs a tune-up. To know this for sure, you will need to take your car to the mechanic.

Low fuel economy

If you notice that your car's fuel consumption is becoming abnormally high, your car engine is a probable culprit. With most gas-powered vehicles, high gas mileage may be a result of problems with the compression stroke of your engine. To reinstate normal fuel consumption, you may need to tune up your car engine or install a fuel cleaner. If these remedies do not yield any success, don't be alarmed — your mechanic will get to the root cause of the problem!

Oil leakages

Another top sign that your engine is headed for serious ruin is when you see oil patches left behind after parking, meaning your car has been running without sufficient oil necessary to lubricate its parts. In most instances, oil leakages are as a result of deteriorated gaskets, bad oil seals, damage to the oil pan as well as loose engine connections. It is imperative to immediately have your engine inspected by a professional for prompt repairs.

For smooth and comfortable rides, it is important that you keep your car engine in top working shape. The above warning signs will help you diagnose problems for early repairs. For exhaustive diagnostics and long-term fixing of engine problems, pay a visit to an auto servicing professional.
