Auto Repairs and Servicing

Hello, my name is Walter. Over the past few months, I have been working on my car. I never used to think much about my car. I would just jump into it and hit the road. Things were fine at first, but soon I realised that things were starting to go wrong. Strange white smoke started to appear from the exhaust. Sometimes when I changed gear, I could hear a strange noise. Foolishly, I ignored all of this until my car broke down. When I got to the auto repair shop the mechanic repaired my car and then gave it a full service. As he did so, I began my auto servicing education.

Five Signs Your Car Needs Automatic Transmission Services

by Margie White

Automatic transmission fluid is the lifeblood of your vehicle. It keeps all of the components inside your automatic transmissions working properly and helps to keep your vehicle in top running condition. Because it is so important, you should have it checked regularly. Here are five signs that indicate that you need automatic transmission services.

1. The Transmission Is Noisy

Transmissions can make a lot of noise and vibrations. However, if you notice a new type of noise, then it's time to take your car in for an inspection. If there's an unusual noise coming from the transmission, then this could be a sign that something is wrong with it. The best thing to do is bring it in to get checked out by a professional mechanic as soon as possible.

2. Your Car Jumps When You Accelerate

If your car jumps when you accelerate, then you need to take it in. When cars jump when they accelerate, it means that there's something wrong with either the transmission or its speed sensors. If this happens often enough or if it happens every time you drive the vehicle, then you should bring it in for an inspection immediately.

3. You Hear A Grinding Sound When You Shift Gears.

If you hear a grinding sound when you shift gears, this is a sure sign that something is wrong with your automatic transmission. This can be caused by several things including worn gears or a damaged seal on the transmission case. Either way, it will need to be repaired before it causes any serious damage to your vehicle's drive train or other parts inside the transmission itself.

4. There Is Excessive Transmission Fluid Consumption

If your vehicle requires frequent refills of transmission fluid but shows no signs of leakage, this is another indication that a serious problem exists within the transmission itself. The most common cause of excessive fluid consumption is a faulty torque converter lockup solenoid which engages and disengages at inappropriate times during acceleration and deceleration cycles.

5. There Is Trouble Stating It After Sitting for Days

If your car seems to have trouble starting after sitting for days, this could be another sign of impending transmission failure. The most common cause of this problem is worn fluid pump seals inside the transmission. This causes fluid to leak out over time which eventually leads to poor shifting performance and premature wear on other internal components.

The automatic transmission is a complex and delicate piece of machinery that can fail if not properly maintained. If you're unsure whether your car needs an inspection or repair of its automatic transmissions, check for the signs listed above and chat with an auto expert about automatic transmission services today.
